Inspiration design: pressure fit - key locking joint.

I tried to create a a locking key joint. I wanted to rotate the key position to a 45 degree angle so that the inserted piece can be positioned to a vertical and horizontal position. I was having difficulty  getting the snap fit to work. After seeing other classmates work I was inspired to try to just do a pressure fit dado peg. It worked very well. It took several attempts to get the fit just right. Early models also had a complete round on one side to create balanced proportions. I took this feature off to allow for the end of the pieces to rest flat.

This joint is the joint that i would like to use in my flatpack furniture set.  I would make the tolerance slightly tighter so that one would have to use a mallet to make the pieces attach to each other.
